From Ljubljana to the Future: A Milestone for Clean Cooling

Three incredible days in Ljubljana marked a turning point for the “Clean and Efficient Cooling” portfolio. As we kick off year three, the EIC community has united around a powerful realization: innovation is the only path forward for lasting societal impact.

At the heart of this movement are applications that are reshaping our world—from keeping data centers stable and homes comfortable to enabling the extreme conditions required for quantum computing and preserving life-saving vaccines. Hycool_IT joined fellow pioneers like MAGCCINE, SMACool, FROSTBIT, and others to drive this conversation forward. Our team, led by Tamara Fanjul, Pablo Vincent, and Fausto Sainz, used the gathering to share progress and deepen our network.

Two working groups sessions where Jaka Tušek led a critical discussion on developing a standardization document for caloric cooling technologies and Pablo Vicente Legazpi guided a session on shared methods and tools of common interest to advance the group’s collective research and development efforts.

The emergence of new startups and spin-offs from this group proves that the EIC’s model of supporting the journey from early research to market success is working.

A sincere thank you to Johannes Bünz, Paolo Bondavalli, and the University of Ljubljana team (Jaka Tušek & Katja Klinar) for hosting such an inspiring event. Together with our committed colleagues, we are building a future where cooling is clean, efficient, and accessible to all.
